The Head of ITPC Vancouver accompanied the Indonesian Consul General in Vancouver to open the Fashion Show of Indonesian Designer Entin Gartini which took place at the ITPC Vancouver Office, Saturday (28 August).
This fashion show aims to introduce Indonesian batik in Canada as part of the cultural heritage and aims to increase the export trend of Indonesian textile and textile products (TPT) to Canada. Indonesia chose to promote batik products through fashion shows to make it easier for Canadians to accept them. Thus, the promotion carried out by Indonesia will be more effective in order to increase the export value of Indonesian textile products to Canada in 2021.
Entin Gartini is an Indonesian designer from Monteral Canada who has won the 'Best Fashion Designer 2021' from Faces Magazine Ottawa. The 'Batik Ombak' motif was carried by Entin to introduce the beauty of the Indonesian sea, so that fashion lovers in Canada are more familiar with the diversity of Indonesian batik motifs. The selection of batik products, apart from being part of the creative economy products, is also dominated by small craftsmen. Entin Gartini created batik designs written by batik craftsmen from Bantul and its surroundings and sewn by household convection industry players around Jakarta.
Through this activity, ITPC and the Indonesian Consulate General in Vancouver hope to help revive the economy of batik craftsmen and household convection industry players, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic by increasing demand from the export market, especially Indonesian textile and fashion products to the Canadian market.
